John Austin has been cookin' up some great country music for you and it's time the dinner bell called you to the table.

We're talking REAL country music  -- the kind you loved from Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr.

Forget that pop-filled crossover sound that inspired Alan Jackson and George Strait to write "Murder on Music Row."

John Austin's lyrics and music are like CPR for traditional country music fans.

One of his songs on his new album looks into the future and proclaims: "Thirty years from now, I'll still be singing Haggard songs."

John Austin grew up in rural Tennessee -- one of those good ol' boys who learned to be true to both his word and tradition. He's steady as a rock, when it comes to his music.

The group backing him on his first album form a "Who's Who" of real country studio musicians -- guys eager to play some good Opry type music again. (See album credits on the store page and articles on the news page.)

"I'm not knocking pop or rock'n'roll or soul because there's good music in every style -- just don't call it country music around me," he'll tell you.

"I enjoy playing some of the Southern rock standards from groups like the Marshall Tucker Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd."

"But I know where my roots are, so I always get back to real country because that's where my heart belongs. I can promise you that if I'm going to sing something from another music genré, I sure won't tell you it's country."

IN MEMORIAM

John Austin lost his mentor and biggest fan last August at his home in Big Sandy, TN.

His father, Clarence (Buddy) McDaniel, a long-time featured performer at the Kentucky Opry, succumbed to cancer at age 65 after an extensive battle.  He is greatly missed.
